Birth photography is very near and dear to my heart. When I gave birth to my daughter, getting photographs of the day was surprisingly the last thing on my mind. It’s something that I deeply regret. I don’t have any images of myself at my most powerful moments or of the bond between my husband and I as I labored. I don’t have any photographs of the moment we became parents for the first time. I never saw the look on my husband’s face as he became a father, because I couldn’t take my eyes off of our newest love. The camera that I brought to my own birth wasn’t even set correctly, so none of the photos that our midwives had taken are in focus. None of them.
These moments are fleeting and completely life altering, how could we not capture them? When I bring up birth photography in conversations, many people are skeptical. “You want pictures of THAT?!” Yes, absolutely! Birth is beautiful. It’s a very private and incredible journey.
As your birth photographer, I could be as involved as you’d prefer. I can help in any way you need. I would also never get in the way of your family or doctors/midwives. I would capture how incredibly strong you were throughout your labor, how supportive your partner was for you, the details of the day, siblings meeting for the first time, your room and your doctor/midwife, and finally the love overflowing out of you as you meet your child for the very first time. It’s going to be one of the greatest days of your life. I want you to remember it! I would love to meet with you and discuss how you would like your birth photographed. Please message me through the contact section. Here are a few images of my most recent birth:
